Hi friends, I apologize for getting this out late this month. I
imagine
I am going to do something I do not want to do too often – offer a “sales” presentation in this eNewsletter. I am doing so only because time is so short and many have asked questions about the Ministry of Development Institute. I hope my thoughts will be beneficial to you. What is the NEW part of Stewardship, Leadership, and Development? Just a marketing ploy? Well, I hope not. We at the Frank Group are serious about training and offering useful and thought-provoking topics. At the same time, we believe there are solid, fundamental principles that must always be stressed. As I study, speak, and consult, I continue to find this topic of stewardship on the front burner of parachurch and church ministry leader discussions. Not because they like it, but because they are always trying to find a “simpler way”. We want to share a definition of stewardship that can change the way pastors and leaders look at, and implement stewardship programs. My dissertation will be a curriculum for a Master of Arts in Stewardship and Development. (Please pray I complete it! J) It will be designed to be implemented at the seminary level. Many have told me that seminaries never change, and this program will never be enacted. But I believe that if we are to have true change, it must start at the seminary level. We must begin by teaching our professors and educators about the biblical and theological aspects of stewardship. We then must prepare pastors of the emerging church that stewardship is more than a necessary evil, but rather a key component of the Christian’s walk with Jesus. So at the Institute, we hope to take the time to discuss the biblical foundations, theology, and implementation of stewardship in our ministries and churches. This should be a challenging first day. Then we move to the NEW leadership. Len Sweet will join us for the luncheon message and afternoon Q and A. He is sure to present some intriguing thoughts about leadership, as he is the Director of the DMIN – Leadership in the Emerging Culture at George Fox Evangelical Seminary. Check him out at www.leonardsweet.com to get better acquainted with his work. I hope to have more for you next month on some NEW leadership ideas and then NEW development ideas. If you are interested in the Ministry of Development Institute, please register now. Not only is space limited to 50, but also as a new training conference we could use some early registrations to let us know how we should plan. Thanks for reading this “infomercial” and I pray your development strategies bring great relationships and results. John PS – Why should you come?
