    Leading Through Change

    By John B Savage, EMBA

Have you ever seen those commercials for "All- Season Tires?" Whatever the season or weather, they'll get you to your destination . . . confidently, safely, and smiling! I'm no expert on tires, but I do know that the demands of leadership are a bit more complex, and not every leader is made for every season.

Organizations are the structures that contain the growing, relating, producing, serving, and changing organisms of business or ministry life. Organizations also have "seasons" that reflect the differing environments they experience. Amidst every season there exists different dynamics, requiring different leadership skill from the CEO or departmental head. Here are five of the most common seasons or phases you will likely encounter.

    The Start-Up Phase

During this entrepreneurial season, high energy, flexibility, creativity, vision-casting and long-hours are most always required. You're going from zero to 60 in 5.2 days, months, or years! Resources are scarce, the window of opportunity is small, and success is the only option. Most significantly, it's all up to YOU to make it happen! Do you function best under pressure? Is this the kind of challenge you love?

Firm News - Happenings at JRFCG
The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) held its annual conference in Cleveland Ohio from May 29th through June 1st this year. For those who don't know, the AGRM is the international association for rescue missions that serve the homeless and needy around the world.

The John R Frank Consulting Group has been a Business Member, Corporate Sponsor, and Conference Speaker for 13 years, helping dozens of ministries improve their results through Capital Campaigns, Strategic Planning, Board Development, Annual Fund Counsel, Major Donor Development and Planned Giving.

This year's conference saw a higher than normal attendance of ministry executives and staff.

John R Frank Consulting Groups President, John R Frank taught two sessions, and many of our Rescue Mission clients were able to visit our booth.

Please pray for the needs of the homeless, and remember to support the work being done in your community through your local Rescue Mission.

Capital Campaigns are not easy. They take hard work, long hours, and persistence. But the benefits far outweigh the costs.

You can ask the team at Alpine Camp and Conference Center in Blue Jay, CA. They have been working on their campaign to remodel a large cabin, build a Welcome Center, landscape the entrance to the camp, and build a new playfield for three years.

And they just completed their $1.1 Million Campaign titled - "Expanding the Possibilities". The camp is part of the Covenant Church and has a long history of giving campers "a mountaintop experience with Jesus Christ".

A year ago the Southern California fires came within one mile of Alpine. If the fire had crossed the main road, there would have been nothing to stop the fire as all the trees were dry and crisp. Somehow the fire stopped, the camp was safe, and the ministry continues.

Now that the Expanding the Possibilities Campaign is completed, the camp will move on to their next project. All of the staff, Executive Director Stan White, and the board are to be congratulated on a job well done!
